It's nearly Movember...
Movember is the month long campaign, which takes place every November, raising awareness about men's health, encouraging men to raise awareness and show support by growing a moustache. Movember focuses on three main areas of men's health; Mental Health, Prostrate Cancer and Testicular Cancer.
A 2025 NHS England survey of mental health and wellbeing, reported that 15.4% of men aged 16 and over have a common mental health condition, such as depression, anxiety or obsessive compulsive disorder, phobias or panic disorder. A 2025 survey from the Office of National Statistics reported a suicide rate of 17.5% per 100,000 men with those aged 50 to 54 recording the highest rate of registered suicides, compared with other age groups.
At Bullion Hall, the Men's Cree, meets every Wednesday 12.15 to 2.15pm and offers an opportunity for men to come together, enjoy a cooked lunch from our cafe and company with other men of similar age and experiences.
On Thursday evenings the Men's Shed meets, 6 to 8pm offering peer support, often based on lived experience, to men experiencing one or more problems in their life, which might be to do with their mental health or issues with addiction; changes in their lives that they are unable to manage or cope with or they could be thinking about suicide.
During Movember we will be posting information about men's health and where you can
find help and support. If you would like to know about the Men's Cree or Men's Shed, email martin@bullionhall.com
