Celebrating prize winning success

Congratulations to Lesley who won runner up prize in a national art competition run by Hassra, an association that provides sporting, recreational and cultural activities to 61k members.

Retiring after 40 plus years of working life Lesley was looking for some to do and joined Thursday's Art Group at Bullion Hall. Under the tuition of Christine Cave and support from other group members Lesley boosted her confidence enough to enter Hassra's competition and became 2025 North East runner up winner in the Urban Jungle mixed media category.

If that wasn't enough, earlier this year, Lesley also made herself a fabulous tartan dress at Wednesday's sewing group for a special family occasion.

The Sewing Group is Wednesday morning, 10 to 12 noon. It's suitable for beginners and more experienced sewers and covers essential skills as well as projects, either with the group or making something for yourself, like Lesley's dress. There are sewing machines available to use if you don't have one. If you do have a machine, you can bring it along and use your own.

The Art Group is on Thursday's 10 to 12 noon. Like Lesley, you can develop you skill and confidence in a variety of different painting and drawing mediums. Both the Sewing and Art group have experienced tutors to help guide your progress, along with friendly and encouraging support from other members.
